Officials of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences will participate at the KOICA Training Program titled “Early Warning System for Natural Disasters”
On June 23, 2021 an Online Orientation Meeting on KOICA Training Program titled “Early Warning System for Natural Disasters” was held with the participation of twelve (12) officials from the Government of Azerbaijan, including officials from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, National Hydro Meteorological Service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Republican Seismic Survey Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
The Training will be held in online format during June 23 - July 2, 2021, for 10 days with joint participation of 12 officials of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Training Program aims to improve national disaster prevention and preparedness level through learning of Korea’s IT-based disaster prediction and warning systems and help upgrade disaster management policies and formulate policy alternatives by understanding the current situation and find the way forward.
The first day of the training started with the Disaster Management Workshop with the presence of high-level representatives of Korea’s Minister’s Office, President’s Office, K-Water and National Civil Defense and Disaster Management Training Institute (NDTI) on behalf of Korean Government and 24 officials from Azerbaijan and Kyrgyz Republic in order to discuss how to deal effectively with challenges and obstacles during disasters.
For information, the KOICA is a state agency, which was established under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea in 1991, in order to implement grant and cooperation programs for developing nations. The KOICA has been inviting Azerbaijani public officials to various fellowship and scholarship programs since 1994. As of 2021, the number of KOICA alumni has reached over 830.
