The conference is a forum for Vietnamese and Korean experts to exchange experiences, methods and solutions for information management to promote the positives while limit the negatives of social media. With the rapid development of digital technology, social media has become a popular platform for information exchange but it is also the environment for misinformation and disinformation, causing severe consequences.
Therefore, information management has to be associated with the prompt detecting, handling and preventing misinformation on social media. Assoc. Prof, Dr. Luu Van An, Acting Rector of the Academy of Journalism and Communication states that “Managing information on social media has become an urgent and long-term mission to create a healthy, positive information environment, thus contribute to the stable and sustainable development of the society.”
KOICA Vietnam Country Director Mr. Cho Han Deog said: "With the rapid development of digital technology, social media has become a popular platform for exchanging information, but it is causing serious consequences in the environment of false and fake information. Through the AJC, Vietnam's top media training institute, KOICA will help the two countries create a sound media environment surrounding various social phenomena and create a better media environment."

Dr. Sonho Kim, lead researcher at Korea Press Foundation, shares his ideas about managing misinformation on social media in Korea during the pandemic.
The discussion at the conferences agrees that the new media environment brings about “nonconventional” challenges in managing information, which requires an innovation in thinking and management model. The managers need to enhance their capacity of making policy, designing regulation and predicting the trend while the audiences need to enhance their capacity in accessing and evaluating information, as well as improving their responsibility in using social media for the purpose of personal and social development.
