RD signing event of the “Project for strengthening the quality system through legal metrology of Ecuador”

On January 21th, 2020, the Ecuador- Koica office signed an project record of discussion(RD) for strengthening the quality system through legal metrology of Ecuador(2020-2025/4.1 million dollars) with the Ecuadorian National Normalizations Institute (INEN), which would be the very recipient part of the project, in the Government Complex in northern Quito. The purpose of the project is to contribute to the settlement of a fair commercial order and the advancement of the industry and the improvement of the quality of life for the Ecuadorian citizens. Ambassador Lee Young-geun, Director Choi Jin-cheol of KOICA's Ecuador office Han Keun-sik, and the Assistant Secretary of State for Production, Trade, Investment, and Fisheries, and the Ecuadorian Affairs and the Ecuadorian Standards Agency participated in this signing ceremony.
Before concluding the RD, both Ecuador and South Korea exchanged congratulatory remarks in a very friendly atmosphere. Director Han Keun-sik thanked INEN for their long-standing enthusiasm for the project and stressed a closer partnership with Korea in hopes of revitalizing Ecuador's commerce. The Ecuadorian side thanked Koica and Korean government several times, demonstrating their strong will to promote the export of Ecuadorian agricultural products and to head toward for reinforce the economic partnership between Korea and Ecuador through modernizing the metrological system. While they shared thoughtful words, the agreement ended successfully, stressing the cooperation and friendship.
According to support of both governments, we look forward to be able to complete the legal capacity building project, which will run until 2025, and hopefully not only this increases Ecuador’s gross of trade, but also helps to construct a fairer society.
