Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA) Peru Office and DIRESA(Peru’s Regional Health Authority) held a ground-breaking ceremony of the 6th Maternal and Child Health Center in Pachacutec, Peru.
Roughly 200 people including the Korean Ambassador to Peru, KOICA Country Director to Peru Office, Governor of Pachacutec, Chief of DIRESA, etc. participated in the event.
KOICA went through the extension and improvement of the previously built maternal and child health center in 2010.
The 6th Maternal and Child Health Center has been recognized as the greatest health center among 48 other health centers located in surrounding areas. Nonetheless, as the number of local residents in slum increased, the center suffered from a shortage of medical facilities.
A number of patients reached from 10,000 to 110,000 since the 1st establishment. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, KOICA embarked on a renovation of the center to support more efficient and successful management.
