KOICA World Friends Education Center Holds Entrance Ceremony for 120th
Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the lead Korean government agency dedicated to providing grant aid programs, held an entrance ceremony for the ‘120th World Friends KOICA Volunteers at the World Friends Yeongwol Education Center(Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon) on January 8, 2018.
A total of 53 KOICA volunteers will receive education on international development cooperation, local languages, disaster safety, and job training for 8 weeks until March 2. After completing training, they will be dispatched to 13 countries including Laos, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan and Solomon Islands from the end of March to the beginning of April and serve there for 2 years in 16 fields such as nursing, science education, agriculture and food processing.
Last year, KOICA trained and dispatched a total of 630 volunteers. Among them, the World Friends Yeongwol Education Center trained 483 volunteers over 6 times and sent them to 36 countries. In addition, it has signed Records of Discussion (RoD) with two educational institutions in the Gangwon area and provided international development cooperation training to 2,711 promising students.
