How does KOICA determine which country will be a recipient of project aid?
KOICA currently assists countries and international organizations in need of development cooperation regardless of their geographical sizes, locations, and/or boundaries. The selection procedure begins once a request is made to a Korean embassy or KOICA field office. Staff members of the KOICA overseas office conduct a demand survey by collecting official aid requests. Following the review of these requests, KOICA forms a "project selection committee" to determine which countries can be effectively assisted. Occasionally, projects may be initiated by a directive or official pledge from the president of Korea.
