Weather Forecasting for Operational Meteorologists

KOICA will hold a training program on "Weather Forecasting for Operational Meteorologists" from April 5 to April 30 at Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Nineteen government officials from 14 countries (Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Peru, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Uzbekistan, Vietnam) will attend the course.

This program is designed to provide participants with advanced skills and knowledge of weather forecasting and to train operational meteorologists in developing countries, improve cooperation among countries, and mitigate meteorological damage.

KMA is the government administrative organization responsible for improving public welfare through the prevention and mitigation of meteorological disasters, as well as providing meteorological support in industrial activities. KMA provides meteorological services to public and carries out active programs of research and international cooperation.

Participants will also have opportunities to visit relevant places(Korea Institute of Machinery & Metals, Korea Aerospace Research Institute, etc.) and tour historic city as well as industrial sites(Okpo Daewoo-shipyard, Gwangyang Iron and Steel Co., Kia Moters Co., etc.)
