Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

KOICA conducts a training program "Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice" for 16 participants from 10 countries as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2010 as follows:

 

o Course Title : Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

o Duration : March 11 - Mar 31, 2010 (21 days)

o Venue : Seongnam and Yong-in city, Korea

o Number of Participants : 16 Participants from 10 countries

 - Angola 1, Dominica Republic 2, Honduras 2, Kenya 2, Madagascar 1, Myanmar 2,
   Nigeria 2, Papua New Guinea 1, Peru 2, Zambia 2

o Training Institution : Legal Research and Training Institute

 

o Training Participants

- Incumbent public officials in the field of criminal justice

 

o Course Objectives

- Understand the present situation and problems concerning the above-mentioned
   issues in each country.

- Examine and analyze the causes of problems in the existing criminal justice systems and
   their actual administration.

- Seek appropriate steps to resolve problems and set up a more effective and fair criminal
   justice system in each country.

 

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

 

A. LECTURES

1. Introduction of the Development of Korea through the Saemauel Movement

2. United Nation Convention on Anti-Corruption and Anti-Corruption Capacity Building

3. Rule of Law, Legal Foundation for Economic Development

4. An Overview of Korean Criminal Procedure

5. Korean Constitutional Court Trial System

6. Current Situation of the Correctional Administration in Korea

7. Establishment of a Constitutional State and Independence of Judicial Power

 

B. COUNTRY REPORT PRESENTATION on

a) International Cooperation for the Effective Corruption Prevention in

   Participants Countries

b) Role of your organization to prevent corruption

 

C. STUDY VISITS & CULTURAL EXCURSION

- Samsung Electronic, Constitutional Court, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Supreme
   Prosecutors' Office, Suwon Detention Center, Supreme Court, etc

- POSCO, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Motors Co.

- Gyeong-bok Palace, The National Folk Museum of Korea, Itaewon, N-Seoul Tower,
   DMZ Tour, Namdaemun Market, Cheonhwadae Sarangchae Exhibition & Museum,
   Insa-dong, etc.
