KOICA conducts a training program "Waste Management & Waste-to-Energy" for 19 participants from 12 countries as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2010 as follows:

 

o Course Title : Waste Management & Waste-to-Energy

o Duration : May 23 - June 12, 2010 (21 days)

o Venue : Incheon & Seongnam city, Korea

o Number of Participants : 19 Participants from 12 countries

 - Cote d¡¯lvoire(1), Dominican Republic(1), Ecuador(2), Guatemala(2), Kyrgyzstan(1),

   Nicaragua(1), Nigeria(2), Philippines(2), Tanzania(2), Tunisia(1), Vietnam(2), Zimbabwe(2)

 

o Training Institution : Korea Environment Corporation

 

o Training Participants

- National or local government officials, preferably middle manager level, with sound experience

  in the environmental management  field

 

o Course Objectives

 - To introduce the concept of ¡®low carbon green growth¡¯ and to develop and promote its ideas

- To introduce the Korean waste management policies and waste-to-energy technologies

- To support the establishment of environmental management strategies

 

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

 

A. LECTURES

1. Sustainable development

2. Climate Changes

3. Waste Management & Resource Recirculation Policies

4. Environment Impact Assessment, etc.

 

B. COUNTRY REPORT PRESENTATION on

   a)Waste Management (Solid, Infectious and Hazardous waste)

   b) Waste to energy

   c) Precautionary Environmental Policy and/or System

   d) Sustainable development

   e) Proposal for resolving environmental crisis (Please describe the current situation and  

       reasons for choosing this particular topic)

 

 

C. STUDY VISITS & CULTURAL EXCURSION

 - Experience Green Growth Hall, SUDOKWON Landfill Site Management Corporation,

    Seongnam Environment Energy Plant, etc.

 - Hyundai Motors Co., SK Energy, etc.

 - Korean Folk Village, Insa-dong, N-Seoul Tower, Gyeongbok Palace, Non-verbal

    performance "NANTA", etc.
