KOICA-UNDP Joint Training Program on Sustainable Agriculture Development (Afghanistan)

KOICA conducts a training program "KOICA-UNDP Joint Training Program on Sustainable Agriculture Development (Afghanistan)" for 20 participants from Afghanistan as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2010 as follows:

 

o Course Title : KOICA-UNDP Joint Training Program on Sustainable Agriculture Development

                       (Afghanistan)

o Duration : May 22 - June 5, 2010 (15 days)

o Venues : Seongnam and Suwon city, Korea

o Number of Participants : 20 Participants from Afghanistan

o Training Institution : International Technology Cooperation Center (ITCC),

Rural Development Administration (RDA)

 

o Training Participants

- National or local government officials, preferably middle manager level, involved in the field of

  Sustainable Agricultural Development

 

o Course Objectives

- To enhance participants' overall knowledge about national agricultural policy, rural development,

   and present trends in Korea

- To improve the operational capability of R&D related to sustainable agricultural development.

- To provide modern theories, knowledge, and techniques on sustainable agriculture

- To share and improve participants' skill and knowledge through the study of various field activities

 

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

1. International Cooperation in Agriculture 

2. Green Revolution 

3. Saemaul Undong (New Village Movement)    

4. Organic Farming  

5. Plant Variety Protection System  

6. Soil Nutrients Management for Productivity   

7. Environment-friendly Weed Management 

8, Introduction of Living in Canaan Farmers School  

9. Farmers' Education for Poverty   

10. Integrated Pest Management  

11. Extension Services in Korea 

12. Afforestation in Korea  

13. Soil Management Technology  

14. Administrative System in Korean Agriculture 

 

B. COUNTRY REPORT PRESENTATION on

a) Introduction of Country and Agriculture

b) Recent Agricultural Policies and Major Projects

c) History of Agricultural Extension and/or Research

 

C. STUDY VISITS & CULTURAL EXCURSION

- Department of Rice and Winter Cereal Crop, Provincial Agricultural Research & Extension Service,

  Saemangeum Reclamation Project site, etc

- Hyundai Motors Co.

- N-Seoul Tower, Gyeongbok Palace, etc.
