Women's Rights Promotion

KOICA conducts a training program "Women's Rights Promotion" for 18 participants 10 countries as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2010 as follows:

 

o Course Title : Women's Rights Promotion

o Duration : May 23 - June 12, 2010 (21days)

o Venue : Seoul & Seongnam, Korea

o Number of Participants : 18 persons from 10 countries

 - Bangladesh 2, Egyp 2, Indonesia 2, Iran 2, Jordan 2, Kazakhstan 2, Morocco 2, Palestie 2,

   Uzbekistan 1, Yemen 1

o Training Institution : Korean Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education

 

o Training Participants

- National or local government officials and experts, preferably at managerial level who are

  currently involved in gender policies or women¡¯s (human) rights

 

o Course Objectives

- To introduce gender policies related to women¡¯s rights in Korea

- To discuss the current issues on human rights and development of women

- To develop ideas on the mutual cooperation to promote women¡¯s rights of participating countries

 

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

 

A. LECTURES

1. Human Rights and Gender

2. Status of Women's Rights and Women Solidarity

3. Gender and Climate Change

4. Girls' Education in Developing Countries

5. Policies on the Prohibition of Prostitution in Korea

6. Gender policies in Korea

7. Employment Polices for Women in Korea    

8. Globalization and Women Issues: Focusing on Migrant Women

9. Gender Politics & Development

10. Development of Women and International Development Cooperation

 

B. COUNTRY REPORT PRESENTATION on

a) Introduction of various gender or/and human rights policies in her/his country

b) Development of gender or/and human rights policies in her/his country

c) Major feature/achievement of gender or/and human rights policies in her/his country

d) Urgent problems that need to be solved in her/his country

 

C. STUDY VISITS & CULTURAL EXCURSION

- Agriculture Museum, Gender Equality and Family Committee, National Assembly,

   Emergency Support Center for Migrant Women, Gyeonggi Women¡¯s Development Center,  etc

- Bulguksa Temple, POSCO, Agricultural Technology Center of Busan, Busan Aquarium,

   Dosanseowon, etc

- Gyeongbok Palace, National Folk Museum, N-Seoul Tower, Watch a Non-Verbal Performance

  'NANTA', Insadong, Namdaemun Market, Yoo's Family, Everland, etc.
