KOICA conducts a training program "Preventive Measures against Avian Influenza for ASEAN Countries" for 15 participants from 8 countries as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2010 as follows:

o Course Title : Preventive Measures against Avian Influenza for ASEAN Countries

o Duration : May 27 - June 16, 2010 (21 days)

o Venue : Seongnam and Anyang city, Korea

o Number of Participants : 15 Participants from 8 Countries

o Training Institution : National Veterinary Research& Quarantine Service

o Training Participants

- Government officials, have a veterinary college graduate or equivalent educational background,

   engaged in the field of AI(Avian Influenza) Control

o Course Objectives

- To inform Korea¡¯sAIcontrolsystemandoutbreakssituation

- To inform major animal diseases control strategies

- To improve AI control system in ASEAN member countries by learning hands-on training of

   AI rapid diagnostic methods

- To strengthen international friendship between ASEAN countries and Korea by building a

   communication channel

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

A. LECTURES & PRACTICUM

1. Veterinary history, government structure & education of Korea

2. Avian influenza

3. Animal disease control system in Korea

4. Quarantine & Inspection

5. Practice of HPAI diagnosis

6. Practice of bacterial isolation from avian clinical samples

7. Necropsy of avian cases

8. Practice of pathological diagnosis

B. COUNTRY REPORT PRESENTATION on

a) General description of common status in the participant¡¯s country

b) Veterinary Organizations of the participant¡¯s country

c) Animal Health Situation and Animal Disease Control Strategy

C. STUDY VISITS & CULTURAL EXCURSION
