Forestation and Desertification Control (Mongolia)

KOICA conducts a training program "Forestation and Desertification Control (Mongolia)" for 13 participants from Mongolia as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2010 as follows:

 

o Course Title : Forestation and Desertification Control (Mongolia)

o Duration : June 6 - June 25, 2010 (20 days)

o Venue : Seongnam and Namyangju city, Korea

o Number of Participants : 13 Participants from Mongolia

o Training Institution : Forest Human Resources Development Institute

o Training Participants

- National or local government officials, preferably middle manager, engaged in the field of Forest

 

o Course Objectives

- To share Korea's experience in the rehabilitation of denuded forests

- To transfer the technology and understand concepts on afforestation of denuded forests to

   the participating country

- To contribute to preventing desertification & afforestration of the Participating country

- To enhance mutual exchange and cooperation between both countries

 

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

 

A. LECTURES

1. Overview of Korean forest policy

2. Erosion control & reforestation techniques reforestation and combating

desertification techniques

3. Forest disaster prevention and corresponding technique

 

B. COUNTRY REPORT PRESENTATION on

a) Activities of combating desertification of Mongolia & application plan through this program

b) Main obstacle of desertification control in Mongolia

c) Further effective cooperation plan between both countries to combat desertification of Mongolia

d) National program (or long-term plan) for preventing desertification & afforestation

e) Implementation of preventing desertification & afforestation

 

C. STUDY VISITS, FIELD TRIPS & CULTURAL EXCURSION

- Korea National Arboretum & Gwangneung Forest, Korea Forest Research Institute,

   Korea Forest Seed and Variety Center, Erosion Control Memorial Park

- Samsung Electronics, POSCO, Hyundai Motors, Gyeongju Historical Sites  etc.

- N-Seoul Tower, Gyeongbok Palace, Itaewon, Namdaemun Market etc.
