Human Rights Policy Development

KOICA conducts a training program "Human Rights Policy Development" for 20 participants from 4 countries as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2010 as follows:

 

o Course Title : Human Rights Policy Development

o Duration : July 4 - July 24, 2010 (21 days)

o Venue : Seoul and Seongnam, Korea

o Number of Participants : 20 Participants from 4 countries

 - Cambodia 5, Kazakhstan 5, Laos 5, Vietnam 5

o Training Institution : National Human Rights Commission of Korea

 

o Training Participants

- National or local government officials, preferably middle manager, engaged in the field of

   human rights

 

o Course Objectives

- To share the NHRCK¡¯s experience about how to establish and manage the National

   Human Rights Commission.

- To discuss how to establish human rights policies, to perform human rights education

   and to investigate and to remedy human rights violation cases.

- To develop ideas on the international cooperation to promote and protect human rights.  

 

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

2. International Human Rights System II

3. Regional Human Rights System

4. Concept of Human Rights: What are human rights?

5. National Human Rights Institution: What is a NI?

6. Establishment & Management of a NHRI

7. International Cooperation among NHRIs

8. National Plans of Action for Human Rights

9. Human Rights Education

10. Investigation & Remedies of HR Violation Cases

 

B. COUNTRY REPORT PRESENTATION on

a) Country Profile

b) Current Human Rights Issues in your Country

c) Human Rights Institutions in your Country

d) National Human Rights Institution

 

C. STUDY VISITS & CULTURAL EXCURSION

- UN ESCAP Center on ICT for Development, IOM MRCT, ASEAN-Korea Center,  Constitutional

  Court, Korean Bar Association, National Assembly, etc

- POSCO, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Motors Co., Samsung Electronics

- N-Seoul Tower, Gyeongbok Palace, Cheongwadae Sarangchae Exhibition & Museum,    

  Cheongye stream, Namdaemun Market, etc.
