Leadership Program for Sustainable Development

KOICA conducts a training program "Leadership Program for Sustainable Development" for 16 participants from 11 countries as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2010 as follows:

 

o Course Title : Leadership Program for Sustainable Development

o Duration : July 8 - July 24, 2010 (17 days)

o Venue : Seongnam & Chuncheon, Korea

o Number of Participants : 16 Participants from 11 countries

 - Belarus 1, Cambodia 2, Indonesia 2, Kazakhstan 1, Laos 2, Myanmar 2, Nepal 2, Peru 1,

   Philippines 1, Sri Lanka 1, Uzbekistan 1

o Training Institution : Asia and the Pacific Cooperation Academy

 

o Training Participants

- government officials and policy makers

 

o Course Objectives

- This intensive short-term program is to assist young government officials and policy

   makers from developing to build capacity for poverty reduction and environmentally

   sustainable economic growth

- This program aims at providing participants with the opportunity to acquire professional

   knowledge, including studying the Republic of Korea¡¯s economic development and

   leadership experience

 

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

 

A. LECTURES

1. Korea Economy: Past, Present and   Challenges For the future

2. Inclusive Growth and Green Growth Strategies in Asia and the Pacific

3. Toward Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific

4. The Pattern of Economic Development and the Role of the Government in Korea

5. The Korean Economic Way

6. Policies for Green Growth in Korea

7. Global Trade Status and Prospects

8. Korean Experience of Finance & Banking   Sector: Practical Approach to the

   Economic Development

9. The Republic of Korea¡¯s Rural Economy: Pastand Present

10. Project Approach for Sustainable Development

11. The spirit of Ganaan

 

B. COUNTRY REPORT PRESENTATION on

a) Brief introduction of the organization represented by the participant

b) Status of Economy in the home country

C) Status of the Environment in the home country

 

C. STUDY VISITS & CULTURAL EXCURSION

- SAssociation of Electronics Environment, Sudogwon Landfill Site Management Corporation,

  Songdo International City Promotion Center, GANAAN Farmers School, The Hite, etc.

- POSCO, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Motors Co.

- Gyeongbok Palace, National Folk Museum, N-Seoul Tower, Watch a Non-Verbal

  Performance 'NANTA', Insadong, Namdaemun Market, Yoo's Family, Everland, etc.
