Capacity Building Program on Nuclear Safety for Egyptian Nuclear Regulators

KOICA conducts a training program "Capacity Building Program on Nuclear Safety for Egyptian Nuclear Regulators" for 13 participants from 1 country, Egypt, as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2012 as follows:

 

o Course Title : Capacity Building Program on Nuclear Safety for Egyptian Nuclear Regulators

o Duration : January 29 - February 11, 2012 (14 days)

o Venue : Seongnam and Daejeon, Korea

o Number of Participants : 13 Participants from 1 country

 - Egypt 13

o Training Institution : Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS)

 

o Training Participants

- Staffs of NCNSRC or its successive organization

- Experts with academic background by each group as follows: Civil/site group,  

  Mechanical/material group, Safety/risk analysis group, Electrical/electronic group,

  Radiation/EIA group

 

o Course Objectives

- To enhance technical competency in safety regulation on nuclear power plants

- To develop Egyptian regulators' competency in safety review and accident analysis

 

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

 

A. Classroom Training

- Lectures and seminars on waste management, meteorological evaluation, hydrologic

   engineering, seismology,  reactor protection system, mechanical systems, in-service

   inspection, emergency core cooling system, and methodology of accident analysis,

   and draw-up of Safety Evaluation Report (SER)

 

B. OJT and Presentation

- Hands-on training on SER draw-up

- Practice and Presentation of SER draw-up

 

C. Field Trip and Cultural Program

- Site visit at NPP in Korea for understanding current status and development program of

   Korean NPPs

- Cultural and social program for understanding Korean culture and tradition
