KOICA conducts a training program "Disaster Prediction and Warning System" for 19 participants from 10 countries as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2012 as follows:

o Course Title : Disaster Prediction and Warning System

o Duration : May 31 - June 20, 2012 (21 days)

o Venue : Seongnam & Cheonan, Korea

o Number of Participants : 19 Participants from 10 Countries

 - Azerbaijan(2), Bangladesh(2), Cambodia(2), Ethiopia(2), Guatemala(2), Honduras(2),

   Kyrgyzstan(2), Mongolia(1), Myanmar(2), The Philippines(2)

o Training Institution : Central Civil Defense and Disaster Management Institute

o Training Participants

 - Should be government officials, preferably in the entry-level not in the senior level

    (1st year-entry level, 2nd year-senior or manager level, 3rd year-high ranking officers)

o Course Objectives

 - To introduce the advanced IT-oriented early warning systems on earthquake, landslide, flood, typhoon, etc.,

    to contribute to the participating countries' development of disaster management policy and system.

 - To present the enhanced disaster management system and relay knowledge, skill and ability on

    how to respond to diverse emergencies

 - To reduce the damage from disasters and to promote the security level of the participating countries with

   disaster prevention systems

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

1. Overview of Korea's disaster management policy

2. Master plan on responding to climate change

3. Earthquake & Tsunami Response

4. National Disaster Management System

B. COUNTRY REPORT PRESENTATION on

a) Presents each country's disaster management system & policy, current disaster management status

    and obstacles ahead (by country)

C. STUDY VISITS & CULTURAL EXCURSION

 - Seoul Emergency Operation Center

 - National Meteorological Satellite Center

 - Busan-Jinhae Free economic Zone & International Exposition Yeosu Korea 2012

 - Namdaemun Market, Gyeongbok Palace, N-Seoul Tower, Insa-dong
