[Governance]Technology and Policy

KOICA conducts a training program "Technology and Policy" for 17 participants from 6 countries as part of the Korean government's grant aid and technical cooperation program for 2012 as follows:

 

o Course Title : Technology and Policy

o Duration : June 28 - July 14, 2012 (17 days)

o Venue : Seongnam and Seoul, Korea

o Number of Participants : 17 Participants from 6 countries

 - Bangladesh 3, Cambodia 3, Indonesia 3, Myanmar 3, Pakistan 2, Sri Lanka 3

o Training Institution : Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI)

 

o Training Participants

- Officials engaged in national S&T policy planning and implementation

 

o Course Objectives

- Share with developing countries Korean S&T policy experiences during its rapid economic

   growth.

- Provide TAP participants opportunities to study and discuss Korean S&T policy and systems.

- Develop international collaborations for mutual development between the  participating

  countries and Korea.

 

o The program consists of 3 parts ;

 

A. LECTURES

1. STI policy of Korea: from learning to creating

2. Government funded research institute (GRI) system

3. National S&T basic plan and strategies

4. Human capacity building in science and technology

5. Policy for fostering industrial technicians

6. KAIST’s HRST Programs and International Cooperation

7. Korea’s Energy Policy

8. ICT Policy

9. Bio-technology Policy

10. Technology Roadmapping as a Strategic Tool

11. Science and Technology Foresight

12. Technology Transfer

13. Sustainable Development & Appropriate Technology for Development

 

B. POLICY REPORT PRESENTATION on

a) National S&T basic strategy and plan

b) National governance of S&T innovation policies

c) Public research institute system

d) Higher education system of Science and Technology

e) S&T human resource development plan and programs

f) Institution and program for vocational training

g) Strong and weak points of the S&T policy and its performance

h) Main characteristics and statistics of the national R&D programs

 

C. STUDY VISITS & CULTURAL EXCURSION

- Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Korea Institute of Science and

  Technology, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Electronics & Telecommunication

  Research Institute, etc

- POSCO, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Motors Co.

- Korean Folk Museum, N-Seoul Tower, Gyeongbok Palace, etc.
