YANGON, 2016.10.28- Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) held a Workshop for Korea Volunteer program (WFK) in Yangon on 28th October.
WFK program of KOICA focuses on improving human resources in the developing world and increases mutual understanding between South Korea and other countries. The program has dispatched 2,000 volunteers to 46 countries including Myanmar, where 65 KOICA-WFK volunteers are currently performing their missions at 52 organizations under 9 ministries, in the sectors of agriculture, IT, livestock, sports and education etc.
The workshop aims to strengthen the relationship between KOICA and respective government organizations in the upcoming days. In this event, various programs such as introduction and presentations of KOICA and WFK program, World Friend Advisor (WFA) on related projects, and both parties’ discussion on WFK-volunteers were included. In addition, a new program of dispatching Sae Maul Undong (SMU) specialists which has been commenced in 2016 was introduced so that the area of WFK volunteers can be expanded with the demand of local people.
The workshop was successfully accomplished with the presence of Chief Representative of KOICA Myanmar Office, Dr. Shin Euicheol, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs, Dr. Nanda Hmun and 85 government representatives.
