KOICA-Gyeongsangbukdo, Having the 1st Entrance Ceremony of the year for Saemaul Leaders of Overseas Volunteering Group
KOICA(Korea International Cooperation Agency) had the 1st entrance ceremony of this year for 14 saemaul leaders of overseas volunteering group on May 10 at World Friends Seoul Education Center.
The members will receive both theoretical and practical education on cultivating service spirit, security and health care, on understanding KOICA projects, and on learning basic local languages.
Then, the members receive professional education on Saemaul Undong for two weeks at Saemaul Academy in Kyungwoon University. After completing the education in Korea, they are dispatched to Vietnam, Senegal, Sri Lanka, and Philippines in order for about 14 months to take active roles in the fields of public administration, agriculture, health, etc.
KOICA has managed the overseas volunteering groups in order to reduce poverty and achieve the SDGs goals in developing countries. Saemaul leaders, in particular, are expected to promote ownership, independence and responsibility of local people in dispatched countries.
