The
Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), a government-run aid agency
of the Government of the Republic of Korea is going to open a training course
exclusively for Jordan titled ¡°Energy Planning & Policy for Jordan¡± during
August 20~ September 4, 2009 (16 days) in Korea.
Fifteen
Jordanian officials will participate in the course who came from Ministry of
Energy and Mineral Resources Technology (MEMR), the national power-related companies
and academia. The course is designed to support Jordanian Government through
enhancing the capacity of the officials working in the field in the energy planning
and policy by sharing Korea¡¯s experience in related fields.
At
a meeting held in the Korean Embassy on August 16, 2009, the Korean Ambassador
H.E Bonkil Shin praised the cooperative relations with the Government of Jordan
in various fields. He noted that the Jordan and Korea faces similar difficulties
caused by the scant resources, and has much room for cooperation in developing
new energy like nuclear power plant and enhancing energy efficiency.
At
the orientation program, the Resident Representative of KOICA Jordan Office
Mr. Jung Sang Hoon assured the importance of this course by introducing some
sessions which include policies, trends and statistics of the (renewable) energy
in Korea and the global market, as well as Korea¡¯s economic strategy to promote
this field.

Abdel Motaleb Al Nugrush, a participant from (MEMR), expressed that the Ministry
is keen to exchange ideas and acquire the knowledge and experience from Korea,
thereby strengthening capacity of the MEMR in formulation of energy planning
and policy.
For
the reference, KOICA was founded in 1991 to provide its aid programs for the
socio-economic development of the developing countries around the world. KOICA
Jordan Office started its activities since March 2008, implementing various
grant and technical cooperation programs and projects.
