The KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) Egypt Office and the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA)held a ceremony upon completion of the ¡®Project for the Development of Information Technology for the Supreme Council of Antiquities¡¯in the conference room on the SCA premises, located in Zamalek.

Through this project, which cost US $2 mil, funded by KOICA, the Supreme Council of Antiquities will be able to connect its main office (Zamalek) with its three branches (in the Abbasiya, Lazoghli and Citadel districts) with a 1Mbps exclusive Internet line. This network enables real-time recording and viewing of information about antiquities.

Moreover the SCA has been provided by high-definition film scanners and digital cameras which will help in digitalize the antiquities information to the latest state-of-the-art technological level. This will be positively reflected on the management of Egypt¡¯s abundant and diverse antiquities in a scientific and methodical way.

The participants in this ceremony included Mr. Yoon Jong Kon, the Korean Ambassador to Egypt; Dr. Zahi Hawass, Secretary-General of the SCA; Mr. Jae Woong Lee, Resident Representative of KOICA Egypt Office and Mr. Nabil Abdel-Hamid, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of International Cooperation
