The KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) Egypt Office
and the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA)held a ceremony upon completion
of the ¡®Project for the Development of Information Technology for the Supreme
Council of Antiquities¡¯in the conference room on the SCA premises, located
in Zamalek.
Through
this project, which cost US $2 mil, funded by KOICA, the Supreme Council of
Antiquities will be able to connect its main office (Zamalek) with its three
branches (in the Abbasiya, Lazoghli and Citadel districts) with a 1Mbps exclusive
Internet line. This network enables real-time recording and viewing of information
about antiquities.
Moreover
the SCA has been provided by high-definition film scanners and digital cameras
which will help in digitalize the antiquities information to the latest state-of-the-art
technological level. This will be positively reflected on the management of
Egypt¡¯s abundant and diverse antiquities in a scientific and methodical way.
The
participants in this ceremony included Mr. Yoon Jong Kon, the Korean Ambassador
to Egypt; Dr. Zahi Hawass, Secretary-General of the SCA; Mr. Jae Woong Lee,
Resident Representative of KOICA Egypt Office and Mr. Nabil Abdel-Hamid, First
Undersecretary of the Ministry of International Cooperation
