Korean help for Lankan Child

A seven-year-girl, Jekatheeswaran Sangavi, without a leg, living in the Mulative district, returned to Sri Lanka after a week’s stay in Korea to fir her with an artificial leg by the Kyunghee University Medical Centre in Korea.

This was part of TV programme, ‘Dream of KOICA’, jointly funded by KOICA and Munhwa Broadcasting Cooperation in Korea. The TV programme aims to shed a light on the KOICA overseas volunteerism, developing cooperation activities and to introduce Sri Lanka’s culture and attractions to the Korean public.

Sangavi was in the Kyunghee Medical Centre to make her artificial leg and fit it into her amputated leg. She also experienced in Korean culture and custom by visiting amusement parks and other tourist attractions.

Korean doctors and KOICA volunteers carried out a medical camp in Nuwara Eliya to check up and treat people suffering from diabetes, hypertension skin and joint disease from October 12 to October 19.
