With the scaling-up of ODA, development agencies are placing more importance on result-based management systems as a means to enhancing aid effectiveness.
In order to enhance aid effectiveness, the international community has adopted the Monterrey Consensus (2002), High-Level Forum on Harmonisation in Rome (2003), and Marrakech Roundtable on Managing for Development Results (2004) and declared the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness in 2005.
Considering such trends in international development, KOICA is trying to strengthen its management and evaluation system. KOICA has broadened its types of evaluation from project-oriented to focusing on country, sector, modality and joint evaluations. We also conduct external evaluations participated by experts and organizations concerned to assure objectivity.
KOICA conducts evaluations which comply with KOICA¡¯s Development Cooperation Evaluation Guidelines established and published in 2008.
KOICA continues to improve evaluation system and meet other evaluation requirements as they arise in the future.

KOICA's Evaluation Office performs the following tasks
¤ýEstablish evaluation-related policies and strategies
¤ýStudy about international cooperation trends on evaluation and participate in discussions
¤ýEstablish and manage annual evaluation plans
¤ýPlan and execute major evaluation tasks based on the annual evaluation plan
¤ýProvide guidelines on evaluation to project departments
¤ýManage the evaluation information system
¤ýStudy and develop evaluation methods
¤ýHelp strengthen the recipient's evaluation capacity
