Overview

In 2009, the Korean government consolidated overseas volunteer programs provided by six different government agencies into a single brand. This government initiative gave birth to World Friends Korea, Korea integrated overseas volunteer programs. As Korea’s iconic participatory development cooperation program, World Friends Korea has deployed 20,000 overseas volunteers to partner countries from 2009 to 2014. Currently, World Friends Korea is operating a wide range of volunteer programs to engage high schools graduates to retirees.

1. World Friends KOICA Dream Volunteers

World Friends Korea is operating Dream Volunteer Program to give young people graduated from vocational high schools opportunities to experience overseas life and utilize their skills to help others. Launched in February 2014 for the first time, volunteers have been dispatched to vocational training centers and technical schools to teach local people about technical areas such as computers and baking. 

 

 

 

2. World Friends KOICA Volunteers

This two-year overseas volunteer program is open to any Korean people. Since the first deployment in 1991, KOICA has accumulated experience and know-how in recruiting, education, supporting and managing volunteers 

 

 

 

 

3. World Friends KOICA Advisors

>Advisors specialized in public administration, education, health, agriculture, etc are dispatched to partner countries for knowledge transfer and policy advice. Knowledge and advice that advisors provide to partner countries is important intellectual asset that can be utilized to fight against poverty and pursue sustainable socio-economic development
