The Governmental Procurement Department organized a workshop entitled "Contract Implementation Management for the Jordanian electronic procurement system (JONEPS)".
The project manager of the e- procurement system in Jordan (JONEPS) at the Government Procurement Department, Emad Qassem, said in a statement to the Jordanian News Agency "Petra" that the goal of the workshop, in which 75 government ministries, institutions and government departments participated, was to introduce the government procurement system for the year 2019, and to clarify the procurement mechanisms that take place within this system and manage the implementation of the contract performance management for JONEPS.
He added that JONEPS contributes to enhancing the participation of small and medium-sized companies and large companies in government tenders through the computerization of the contract performances on JONEPS system for all interested parties from the procuring entity, the requesting party and the contractor.
He also pointed out that the government is working hard to strengthen the government procurement sector, and the Korean government has contributed by providing real support and partnership in developing the e-procurement system in Jordan.
The Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA) in Jordan, Kim Hyo-Jin, said, “KOICA decided to provide additional support for JONEPS in expanding the work scope including the development of Contract Performance Management System”.
She added that JONEPS played a key role in the issuance of the Government Procurement Regulations (No. 28) and the unification of two procurement departments into Government Procurement Department this year and that JONEPS will contribute a lot more to improving efficiency and transparency of the public procurement process in Jordan.
