[Kyrgyzstan’s Broadcaster ELTR TV reported on “My Village” project]
The ELTR TV, a local public TV broadcaster, has continuously reported on “My village” project in Kyrgyzstan (2019-2022/$3.5 million) three times by now. Following the first episode (2019.12.30), newly prepared video clips were aired two more times (2020.01.13, 2020.02.03) on the ELTR TV’s <Регион> (Region) program.
<Регион> showed the interviews with different local residents and business associates and the progress of the implemented projects in Batken, Osh and Chui oblasts, where “My village” project activities are underway. In the first episode of the broadcast the field visits to the school renovation project in Katran village and the irrigation water development project in Tamasha village of Batken oblast were showcased along with the interview of the GAMSUMO’s director, Mr. Bakhtiiar Saliiev. Mr. Saliiev talked about the objectives of "My Village" project, the process of selection of 30 villages and about the various ongoing infrastructure projects. He expressed his appreciation to KOICA for its support and talked about the similarities between Kyrgyzstan’s “Ashar” method and Korea’s “Saemaul” spirit.
The second episode reported on “My Village” project sites in Pakhtachy and Suroo-Tash villages of Osh oblast as well as the interview with the Country Director of KOICA Office in Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Oh Dong-gil, and the Deputy Governor of Osh oblast. Mr. Oh Dong-gil explained about the Saemaul Undong approach in Korea and proposed the direction of the project and its future support plans to be tailored to the Kyrgyzstan’s environment. Also, based on the Saemaul Undong promotion principle, which implies distribution of the project budget for the next year to the participating villages according to their first year performance results, the ultimate success within the framework of the project will directly depend on the cooperation and participation of the village residents.
The last episode reported on the renovation of the community center in Kara Sakal village of Chui oblast and broadcasted the interview with the Saemaul leader of Kara Sakal village. The ELTR TV commented that KOICA’s support is in line with the Kyrgyzstan's regional development policy contributing to the actual development of the villages, and shared its positive expectations regarding the future of “My Village” project as well.
