The Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief is a response of the Korean government in partnership with private sector, to increasing disasters and conflicts, supporting relief, recovery, and prevention.
Humanitarian assistance projects save lives, alleviate damage, protect human dignity from manmade and natural disasters. Furthermore, the projects are aimed to support victims to quickly return to their daily lives by capacity building activities for preventing and responding to disasters.
Supporting with cash or goods
KOICA provides cash or goods (tents, tarps, blankets, etc.) to minimize damages from disasters and to secure victims' lives and basic needs, based on the review and decision by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Dispatching Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT)
A relief team is dispatched by the government to support recovering from damages, rescueing lives, and providing medical relief in affected countires
Imroving disaster response system
KOICA serves as the secretariat for KDRT, providing staff capacity building trainings for staff and improving equipment to prepare KDRT dispatch
