KOICA supports 210,000 USD worth of vegetable seed kits and COVID-19 health care materials to MOALI
The donation ceremony of vegetable seed kits and COVID-19 health care materials was held at the main meeting hall of MOALI Office No (15) on 12 June. During the ceremony Dr. Aung Thu, Union Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and Mr. Lee Sang-hwa, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea delivered the speech and Dr. Ye Tint Tun, Director General of Department of Agriculture (DOA), and Ms. Lee Youn Soo, Chief Representative of KOICA Myanmar Office explained current cooperation projects between MOALI and KOICA including effort for COVID-19 response.
The 150,000 USD worth of vegetable seed kits for home g ardening during the monsoon season will be distributed to 40,500 households in 27 Townships under the Strengthening Agriculture Extension in Myanmar (SAEM) Project supported by KOICA. This donation aims not only to fulfill the objective of the SAEM Project but also support an action plan related to the agricultural sector of COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan (CERP).
Another 60,000 USD worth of basic health care materials such as washing station, infrared thermometer, soap, mask are donated to 136 SMU model villages and Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Center (AERDTC) for supporting prevention from COVID-19 in the rural areas and safe operation of the AERDTC established under the Saemaul Undong Project (SMU Project) in Myanmar. end.
