1. I work for a private company and I would like to pursue a master’s degree. Can I apply for KOICA’s scholarship?
KOICA is a Korean Government agency which supports governments of partner countries to achieve socioeconomic development and it provides training with a view to building the capacity of civil service. Therefore, KOICA Scholarship program is for government employees.
Besides being a government employee, candidates should meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be a citizen of one of KOICA’s Scholarship Program target countries (In this case, Mozambican national)
- Be officially nominated by the government
- Be a holder of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of study
- Have good command of both spoken and written English
- Be in good health, both physically and mentally
- Have not participated in any of the Korean Government’s KOICA Scholarship
- A person who has never been withdrawn from KOICA’s Scholarship Program
- A person who has never been withdrawn from KOICA’s Scholarship Program
2. I have completed High School and I would like to study for a bachelor’s degree in Korea. Can I apply for KOICA Scholarship?
KOICA’s Scholarship program is for master’s studies. At the moment, KOICA does not provide scholarships for undergraduate (bachelor’s degree) studies. Note that scholarships for doctorate degrees may be provided for certain courses and are only for graduates from KOICA Scholarship Program.
3. What courses are provided under KOICA’s Scholarship Program?
For the 2020/21 academic year KOICA will provide, in the first phase, 5 courses as follows:
- Regulation Management for Economic Development
- Techno-Entrepreneurship Competency based on EE&ICT Convergence
- Global Education Leadership
- Social Economy (MBA)
- Response to Climate Change

4. Which documents are required to apply?
The required documents vary from one university to another but generally, all applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- KOICA Application form
- University application form
- Copy of Certificate or Diploma
- Copy of transcripts
- Copy of passport
- Curriculum Vitae
Other documents may be required such as letters of recommendation, employment certificate, birth certificate or I.D and/or copies of parent’s identification documents, English proficiency tests, etc. Please note that all documents should be submitted in English. Any documents not in English should be translated by a sworn translator.
Also note that some universities require that copies of certificates and diplomas be endorsed by the Embassy of Korea.
5. Where can I find the application forms and how do I apply?
The application forms, list of required documents and program information can be found at the link below and clicking on the desired program:

Applicants should download the forms, fill them out in English on the computer, print, sign and have them stamped as needed. Applicants are advised to read instructions for application and to learn about the program applying to before applying.
Complete application should be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros e Cooperação), Directorate for Asia and Oceania (Direcção para Ásia e Oceania, DAO), located at Av. 10 de Novembro, 620-40, Maputo, by 16th March, 2020.

6. What does KOICA’s scholarship cover?
KOICA scholarship is a full tuition scholarship which covers round trip airfare, tuition fees, monthly allowance, health insurance, installation allowance and scholarship completion grants, among others. Accommodation is provided in the university residence halls on campus.
7. What is the duration of the studies and when do candidates go to Korea?
The courses usually last between 16 and 17 months and candidates travel to Korea in July or August.

8. I live outside of Maputo City in another province. Can I apply for the scholarship?
Yes, you can apply and you may send your application by courier service such as Portador Diário.
