On August 16 and 17, 9 KOICA volunteers who are working in Huancayo and other regions of Peru celebrated the Korean cultural event ¨HUANCorea 2019¨ in Huamanmarca Square, the Huancayo Municipality Auditorium and the Nuestra Señora Del Valle Auditorium .
This event was held to publicize Korean culture to Huancainos citizens as well as the understanding of Korea and KOICA. The event was attended by the deputy director of KOICA Peru, Mr. Saang-keub Lee, the representatives of the Regional Government of Junín, the language center of the National University of the Center of Peru and the Huancayo IPD.
This event was divided into Korean cultural stands, Educational Night and Cultural Night. From 13 to 17 hours on both days, exhibitions of Korean culture such as Korean calligraphy, try traditional Korean clothes, instant tattoo of Korean figures or Korean lyrics, taekwondo, traditional game and Korean food in Huamanmarca Square were held .
The events of the night were held on the topics' Education Night¨ and¨ The Culture¨. The Educational Night began with the opening ceremony, we celebrated Korean oratory competitions, a talk on the day of Korean Independence and Korea's International Cooperation.
In ¨La Noche Cultural¨, a K-POP dance and singing contest was held, a traditional fan dance performance by Korean language students. In addition, KOICA volunteers provided traditional Korean dance and thus successfully completed all events.
Some 2,350 Huancan citizens participated in this event. We hope that through this event students who learn Korean in Huancayo will inspire their willingness to learn by experiencing Korean culture, but also the Peruvian government and the Huancainos will see Korea as a friend and continue to foster cultural exchange.
