The Korean Government will provide a US$ 13 million grant through KOICA to establish an inclusive public transportation service in Makati City using eco-friendly electronic (EV) buses. Under the 5-year project, KOICA and the City Government of Makati City will develop a Public Transportation Master Plan, launch a Public Transport ICT System, operate an EV bus service, and construct an EV bus depot. The operation of EV buses would help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impact of climate change.
“The envisioned public transport system in Makati City would provide citizens with safe, efficient, accessible, and eco-friendly mode of transportation.” said Country Director KIM.
Mayor Binay said the project is in line with their efforts to transform Makati into a smart city. She added that the smart public transport system will provide commuters with an affordable means of transportation.
KOICA actively supports the Philippine transportation sector to strengthen national competitiveness and spur economic growth.
