Health is a fundamental human right for all, and it is also one of essential factors for the socioeconomic development of developing countries. KOICA has established the Health Mid-TermStrategy (2021-2025) and is striving to provide quality health care services and to ensure universal health for the residents in beneficiary countries.
- Governance

KOICA designated ‘Governance’ as one of its priority areas and provided assistance to strengthen administrative capacity in developing countries. Based on Korea’s experience of rapid growth, KOICA strives to improve the administrative capacity for sustainable growth and economic development, and to establish social & economic systems.
- Agriculture and Rural Development

The socio-economic instability and decline of agro-fishery products derived from climate change make difficulties in securing enough food and money for livelihood in the rural regions of developing countries. KOICA invests in agricultural and rural development as well as the conservation of natural resources and the ecosystem against climate change through the Agriculture & Rural Development Mid-Term Strategy (2021-2025).

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has been continuously extending ODA (Official Development Assistance) for water in various sectors, including health, rural development, energy, and climate change response. In particular, in the water sector, linkages with other issues such as gender, governance, and ICT have become more important. Therefore, KOICA has contributed to the sustainable development of developing countries by establishing the Water Mid-Term Strategy (2021-2025) for solving global water problems more efficiently.

KOICA is preparing a customized support strategy based on an analysis of the partner countries’ policy and energy environment. Specially, KOICA makes efforts to respond to climate change through sustainable energy and to realize inclusive growth through establishment of the Energy Mid-Term Strategy (2021-2025) considering SDGs and the SE4ALL initiative.
- Transportation

Transport infrastructure plays a significant role in bringing vitality to the economic activities of a country. Likewise, an adequate transport infrastructure is a prerequisite for economic and social development. KOICA recently devised the Transportation Mid-Term Strategy (2021-2025) to assist our partner countries in meeting their transport infrastructure needs. Moving forward, KOICA’s focus will be to serve as a catalyst for comprehensive growth along with systematic transport development in these countries.
- Science, technology and innovation

SDGs emphasize the importance of science, technology and innovation (STI) in most of the goals. The global community also recognizes the importance of science and technology for solving problems in developing countries. In response to these international trends, KOICA is promoting the mainstreaming of science, technology and innovation in ODA projects by establishing the STI Mid-Term Strategy (2021-2025).
- Climate Change Response

Under the new climate regime, developing countries are urged to join the effort to combat climate change with further capacity building efforts. More support is needed for the least developed countries and small-island developing states, which are the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. KOICA hereby establishes the Climate Change Response Mid-Term Strategy (2021-2025) and will actively support the climate adaptive capacity of developing countries in order to improve the quality of life.
- Gender Equality

The international society of development cooperation has increasingly agreed that gender equality as a universal approach is essential to fully accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals. According to this trend, KOICA has set up the Gender Equality Mid-Term Strategy (2021-2025) and made an effort to contribute to empower women and improve their status in developing countries.

- Project and Development Consulting (DEEP)

Projects and DEEP support socio-economic development and welfare improvement of partnering countries through an integrated approach which includes dispatching experts, inviting to trainings, providing equipment, building infrastructure, and providing technical assistance. Projects are usually implemented for 2 to 5 years.
- Fellowship Program (CIAT)

KOICA's fellowship program (CIAT) is Korea's leading human resources development (HRD) training program where KOICA invites civil officials, engineers, researchers, and policy makers in developing countries who will lead economic and social growth of their countries and provides capacity building trainings focusing on sharing Korea's experience and technology for development.

Humanitarian assistance projects save lives, alleviate damage, protect human dignity from manmade and natural disasters. Furthermore, the projects are aimed to support victims to quickly return to their daily lives by capacity building activities for preventing and responding to disasters.

Creative Technology Solution (CTS) is a 2 -5 year program that applies innovative ideas and newest technologies to ODA projects with the support of prospective entrepreneurs, start-ups, and social venture innovators. It aims to contribute to finding solutions to challenging development tasks and also enhancing the effectiveness of various development projects.
- Inclusive Business Solution Program

Inclusive Business Solution (IBS) is a project that solves social development issues that low-income group in developing countries faces. It also provides opportunities for employment and business; it is based on a strategic partnership that meets the business need of corporations. IBS partners with low-income group in developing countries in various ways, as distributors, sellers, or consumers.

Innovative Partnership Program (IPS) is a strategic partnership project with various international partners of KOICA to explore new areas, regions, and methods, internalize the results and expand and reproduce a new business model.

Development Alliance Korea (DAK) is Korea's first and largest innovative Public-Private Partnership system joined by private sector, civil society, academia and the government with experience in implementation of activities targeting reduction of global poverty and inequality and supporting sustainable development.
- Civil Society Cooperation Program

Civil Society Cooperation Program supports international development cooperation activities of CSOs (Civil Society Organizations), working towards reducing poverty and promoting welfare in developing countries, and development cooperation projects friendly to local residents and complement intergovernmental projects.
- Collaborative Impact Management Program

Collaborative Impact Management Program supports the impact management of civil society cooperation projects. Participating organizations and impact management consulting agencies jointly set the PDM (Project Design Matrix) and indicators, and the agencies conducts monitoring and gives feedback during the project period.

International organization cooperation project refers to the cooperation between KOICA and international organizations* to collaborate in resolving global issues such as economic and social development, humanitarian assistance and food security, climate change and human rights of target countries.
- Global Disease Eradication Fund

Global Disease Eradication Fund is based on the Air-ticket solidarity levy system and 1,000 KRW is charged for every international flight ticket departing from Korea. It is used for prevention and eradication of infectious diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa and also for maternal and child health projects.
- World Friends Korea

World Friends Korea (WFK) dispatches volunteers in different areas such as education, vocational training, agriculture and fisheries, health, sanitation and rural development in order to promote friendly and cooperative relationship and mutual exchanges between Korea and developing countries and to support their economic and social growth.

- In support of the joint response to global issues (poverty, gender equality, climate, change, human rights, etc.), KOICA has carried out multilateral development cooperation projects primarily in countries lacking in or excluded from aid and areas with ongoing conflicts, utilizing the expertise and networks of the international organizations to supplement existing two-party bilateral aid. The aim is to establish strategic partnerships with international organizations to create synergy.
