WHAT ARE THE PROCEDURES WHEN SELECTING TRAINING PARTICIPANTS?
The procedures are as follows:
For short-term courses (lasting two or three weeks)
1) Choose a training program offered by KOICA
2) KOICA Headquarters shall request recommendations for applicants from a KOICA overseas office or Korean Embassy
3) The KOICA overseas office or Korean Embassy shall request recommendations for applicants from partner country representatives
4) Prospective applicants can apply for a course by completing the application form. The completed application form should be sent to the nearest KOICA overseas office or Korean Embassy. Applications sent to KOICA Headquarters will not be accepted.
5) The KOICA overseas office or Korean Embassy shall send the list of recommended applicants to KOICA Headquarters in Korea.
6) KOICA Headquarters shall have a training institute screen the submitted applications.
7) The training institute shall inform the screening results to KOICA Headquarters.
8) KOICA Headquarters shall approve applicants for the course
9) The KOICA overseas office or Korean Embassy shall conduct an orientation session for the selected applicants before they depart for Korea.
10) KOICA Headquarters shall handle questions regarding Visas, Airline tickets, etc.
For long-term courses (Masters Degree Programs)
1) Choose a training program offered by KOICA
2) KOICA Headquarters shall request recommendations for applicants from a KOICA overseas office or Korean Embassy
3) The KOICA overseas office or Korean Embassy shall request recommendations for applicants from partner country representatives
4) Applicants should submit:
a) TWO (2) applications forms for the KOICA long-term training program
b) Graduate school application form
c) TWO (2) letters of recommendation
d) Resume/CV
e) Transcript of undergraduate studies
f) Copy of undergraduate degree and identification photos
g) TWO (2) passport sized photos
h) TOEFL or IELTS test scores (if available)
I) Certificate of employment (if available)
5) The KOICA overseas office or Korean Embassy shall send the list of recommended applicants to KOICA Headquarters in Korea
6) The application forms officially submitted through the KOICA overseas office or Korean Embassy will be evaluated by the respective Graduate School. Afterwards, a telephone interview will be conducted through the contact information provided on the application form.
7) After the graduateschool evaluation process, KOICA will conduct another evaluation process (based on the relevance of the degree, work experience, relevance of the work).The accepted candidates as well as the runners-up will be notified through the embassy.(The runners-up will be accepted if the accepted candidates decide not to go.)

WHO IS QUALIFIED TO TAKE PART IN KOICA'S TRAINING COURSES?
Qualifications:
1) Mentally and physically sound
2) At least three years work/study experience within a government related organization and in a related field
3) Capable of writing and speaking in English or Korean
4) No previous participation in KOICA’s training programs within the past three years. Exceptions are made for people taking specialized courses over a number of years in a specific field or different courses in the same field.
5) Should be nominated by their governments.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR WFK VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM?
Any Korean citizen between the ages of 20 and 61 may apply to become a WFK Volunteering program. There are no rules against current college students applying to become a Volunteer, it is recommended that they apply after they graduate because most applicants have completed college and possess more skills and qualifications.
Applicants need to take a English exam to understand the volunteers grasp of the English language, a written English exam comparable to the TOEIC exam is given. Starting this year, a KOV applicant may be exempt from taking the English exam if he/she submits a valid TOEIC, TOEFL, or TEPS score received within the past two years.
When you are selected as an volunteer, you will go through a two-week training camp in Korea, in which you are instructed on the principles of volunteer service and the spirit of volunteerism. Once overseas, volunteers receive eight weeks of local training in which you learn about the language and culture of your host country. These localized lessons and programs are designed to ease the volunteer into their new living environment
HOW DOES PROJECT PROCEED?
Project proceeds in the following manner:
A. Survey request and receipt of project proposal through the Korean embassy
B. Selection of candidates project for pre-feasibility study
C. Pre-feasibility study
D. Preliminary planning and confirmation
E. Notification to the recipient country
F. Establishment of a project master plan
G. Dispatch of an implementation survey team and sign a Record of Discussion (R/D)
H. Confirmation of R/D by both governments through an exchange of Note Verbal or the signing of an agreement
I. Project implementation
J. Evaluation and follow up
Additionally, projects cover a variety of areas including education, vocational training, health and medical services, information technology, agriculture, fisheries, and public administration.
WHICH NGOS DOES KOICA SUPPORT?
KOICA gives support only to registered Korean NGOs that have more than 3 years of solid experience in implementing activities related to international development.
