Greetings.
I am CHANG, Won Sam, the 14th President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Since its establishment in 1991, KOICA has cooperated with various domestic and foreign partners, overseas volunteers, and activists to implement development cooperation projects for the eradication of poverty and socioeconomic development in developing countries. Now, amid a rapidly changing international environment, KOICA aims to realize through development cooperation Korea’s national vision of Global Pivotal State that contributes to peace, freedom and prosperity. This vision has been articulated in the government’s foreign policies such as the Indo-Pacific Strategy, Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative and Ukraine Peace and Solidarity Initiative.
Moreover, KOICA will continuously strive for work efficiency and aid effectiveness. We aim to innovate our projects and management, expand health, green, and digital ODA, broaden cooperation with countries and international organizations that share universal values, strengthen public-private cooperation, foster global professionals, and faithfully carry out tasks such as ESG management.
KOICA alone cannot navigate the variety of global complex crises, including rising conflicts and the food, energy, health and climate crises. We will value and fully utilize the collective knowledge of diverse partners including the private sector, civil society, and the Korean people through constant communication.
We ask for your interest and support. Thank you.
CHANG, Won Sam
President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)
